The janitorial cleaning franchise stood out among Christian businesses as values aligned perfectly with theirs
Steve and Lori Carlino are from New York, but after getting tired of the snow, they decided to move to Corpus Christi, Texas. Steve had worked in the power production industry for 35 years and was ready for something new, while Lori was sure she wanted to continue working as a registered nurse. They researched various options including ones for Christian businesses and were particularly impressed by Office Pride.
“Their values are consistent with ours,” says Steve.
The couple was also floored by the concern and care the janitorial cleaning franchise invested in all its franchisees. The management and structure are also impressive, Steve adds, pointing to the fact that franchisees never undercut each other for a slice of business.
In 2015, despite a return of Steve’s cancer, the Carlinos decided to buy into the Office Pride franchise and operate in Corpus Christi. Steve and Lori also live there which is a great sales point for customers, Steve says, since they know the business owners are local and can be called in case of an emergency.
In fact, a local industrial center had such bad floors that Steve remembers the Office Pride crew had to work all Memorial Day weekend over it – but that’s what it means to go above and beyond, one of the operating principles of the office cleaning franchise. Steve and Lori are so committed to delivering stellar service that it shows in the feedback they receive. A dialysis center they worked with recommended Steve’s services to three others.
Steve’s background in the power production industry also helps him gain and retain clients, he says. As part of his old job, he routinely had to sell and contract negotiations and managed many departments. All that becomes important when leading a team of two managers and 39 part-time employees.
Christian businesses are an especially appealing proposition to the Carlinos. Steve deeply believes that God has a plan for him despite the resurgence of his cancer. “God gets the glory, he brings me business,” Steve says. Today, that business includes all the original clients from 2015. He is a member of the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce and BNI International (a lead-generation network) and is looking to expand business even more.
